This website is not finished.
I'm A. A. Tuohy, an undergraduate geology student, and a VCE English tutor in Victoria. This website was originally conceived as a local alternative to LitCharts, providing resources for less popular VCE texts.
However, after spending time with kids and cousins, and helping them learn to read, I noticed a terrible problem: there is now a dearth of good-quality books available for children in libraries. They have been replaced by formulaic series, glorified product placement, and toilet humour (and soon, perhaps, ChatGPT). This, combined with their popular rejection of the scientifically-based phonics system, has led me to fear that libraries are actively harming children's ability to read.
The purpose of this website is now twofold: to provide VCE resource, as well as book recommendations and access to affordable books for younger children, so that they may actually learn to read (so you won't need to hire me later on!).
I have used minimal CSS, scripting, and cookies for this website. All this for greater accessibility, less memory, and respect for my readers' privacy.
